We live in interesting times because on the one hand the systems of the industrial age of the organization are ending their life cycle and on the other hand globalization and information technology make possible the emergence of new forms of the organization. This transition, in turn, creates a fundamental transformation in us. This is the first course of its kind to bring together some of the latest ideas in complexity theory and emerging approaches to managing complex organizations. During this course, we will explore many of these new ideas, including networking, simultaneous development, value creation, systems thinking, agile development, and the adaptation cycle, name just a few.
