International Arbitration E-Learning

Virtual training in international arbitration has been created for people to become fully acquainted with international arbitration. Students will learn the basics of alternative dispute resolution (negotiation, mediation, compromise, and arbitration). They become familiar with the principles of international commercial arbitration. Particular attention will be paid to introducing students to all aspects of international commercial arbitration, ensuring that students understand key issues and face a global view of international commercial arbitration.

What is International Arbitration?
International arbitration or international arbitration is a method of resolving international disputes in which the parties refer their dispute to a trusted arbitrator instead of going to court. Reference to arbitration may be foreseen after the dispute arises or during the conclusion of the contract (arbitration clause). This method of dispute resolution is often used in international trade agreements. The main reasons for using arbitration are the lack of timely procedures and, consequently, its speed, as well as the lack of confidence in the impartiality of national courts.

Refereeing history:
At the Hague Conferences of 1899 and 1907, arbitration was introduced as a method of preventing the use of force. Following the first conference, a tribunal was set up to prevent war and international conflicts. There was a list of trusted lawyers as arbitrators in this court and the appointment of arbitrators was done by agreement of the parties to the dispute.
