The Urban Environment E_learning

The urban environment design: The urban design was created in the 1960s to search for the quality of the city. This search has continued to this day with two functional and aesthetic goals. In our country, the profession and field of urban design in its current sense does not have a long history. During the 30 years that have passed since the introduction of this field in our country, despite the numerous experiences that have been gained, good results have not been achieved and successful examples have not been presented. In a world where climate change, depletion of natural resources, and increasing global population have become indisputable facts of human life. Rising demand for construction is now a new threat to fragile ecosystems.

It is worth noting that in all cases examined, the importance of citizen participation is very strong, although the approaches of cities in this regard are different. The importance of communication and dissemination of environmental information to all people, whether through bulletins, published indicators, workshops or training or other media, has also been emphasized in all cases.

This course demonstrates the best approach and inspires a new generation of designers who will combine architectural and engineering skills to solve a key environmental challenge.

Environmental benefits for cities

  • Clean air is essential to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Rivers and waterways provide the city with drinking water and are a natural filter for pollution treatment.
  • Biodiversity is essential for food, raw materials, medicine and quality of life, not only locally but also globally. Biological areas are beyond the borders of cities. And urban activity at a particular point can have a devastating effect on forests thousands of miles away, or disrupt migration patterns. Biodiversity also increases the ecosystem’s resistance to climate change.
  • Forests play a role in watersheds, the environment, carbon deposits, recreation and comfort areas, and tourism destinations. Forests, if managed sustainably, can also be a source of energy and building materials.
  • Wetlands filter sewage and waste and are an environment for aquatic animals.
  • Sand dunes, coral islands, and mangrove trees protect cities from storms, prevent soil erosion, and the latter two are good aquatic environments. Attractive beaches also attract tourists.
