Calibration determines the functional characteristics of a device, system, or reference material. This can usually be achieved through direct comparison with measured standards or certified reference materials. The calibration result can be expressed by a statement, a calibration function, a calibration diagram, a calibration curve, or a calibration table. In some cases, the value of the marker correction is measured by adding a value or multiplying by a coefficient, with uncertainty. In most cases, the calibration label is also affixed to the measuring device.
